Hi! My name is Carrie Meng, and I chose All the Light We Cannot See for my AP Literature contemporary works project. Initially, I was intrigued by the premise of a boy recruited to work for the Nazis and a blind girl living through the struggles of World War II. The emotional aspect of the novel also drew me in as I enjoy reading books in which I get very attached to the characters. At school, we typically read classics although we read a good amount of modern nonfiction. At home, I occasionally read contemporary fiction, and I anticipate that analyzing this novel will be similar to although much more in depth compared to how I read for leisure. I hope to become more knowledgeable of life during the war and to emotionally connect with the two main characters as I read this novel.
